BIO

Tangled Waves is a live modular synth / audiovisual duo, formed in London and based in Montreal.

Their work explores experimental melodic synthesis, accompanied by raw visuals.

Olivier pilots the Tangled Waves Eurorack modular system, while Katrin creates live line art, digital drawings and animations.

Their debut album, Signal from VALIS, inspired from sci-fi classics, was released in May 2020, and received positive reviews from Tome to the weather machine and Grotesqualizer, two blogs dedicated to experimental electronic music.

Tangled Waves are regulars of the Modular Mondays meetings in Montreal and have also played live concerts in London, Brighton, and Tokyo.

Suzanne Ciani, Bana Haffar, Caterina Barbieri, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Lyonel Bauchet, Colin Benders, Patrick O'Brien, Todd Barton, Ian Boddy, Laurent Garnier, Lightbath, Stroeme and Julia Bondar are among their modular synthesis heroes and heroins.

When one looks at their visuals, Picasso, Munch, and Miro are not far away.

Alien worlds, impossible creatures, blinking space machines, live performance and one take recordings... What could possibly go wrong?
